Description
House. C17 with C18 and early C19 alterations. Coursed squared ironstone and ironstone rubble; tile roof; stone end, ridge and internal stacks. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. 6-panel door left of centre with overlight and rendered surround with Doric half-columns. At left end a cross wing with rendered front, hipped roof and tripartite sash windows. Main range has irregularly spaced 16-pane sash windows with flat arches to ground floor, timber lintels to first. Chamfered plinth, some courses of brick to eaves, 3 gabled roof dormers and stone coped gable with kneeler to right. Stone coped garden wall to left. Left side elevation has moulded string at first floor level and two very large C17 projecting stone stacks with tall coupled stone chimneys. This two-window range was once longer. Interior: spacious stone-paved staircase hall with good late C18 open well staircase with carved tread ends, wreathed and ramped handrail. One first floor bedroom has 4-centred arched fireplace.
