Description
Almshouses. Dated 1853. Coursed squared ironstone, limestone dressings, slate roof, brick end and ridge stacks on rendered bases. 2 storeys; 7-window range. Central and end bays break forward and have stone coped gables with kneelers facing street. Central chamfered doorway, with straight head and keyblock, gives access to passage and doors just within to Nos. 6 and 7. Doors to inner sides of end bays and to middle of intermediate ranges have similar stone surrounds and plank doors with ornamental hinges. Two-light cast-iron casements with octagonal and diamond pattern lights throughout with chamfered stone surrounds and keyblocks except to first floor windows. Stone shield in central gable inscribed Norton Charity 1853. Interiors not inspected.
