Description
Farmhouse. Early C18. Limestone ashlar with ironstone dressings, C20 plain-tile roof, stone internal stack with 4 square flues; chamfered plinth and moulded cap. 2-unit lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Central 8-panel door with fine moulded stone surround, plain frieze, moulded cornice and broken segmental pediment framing ball finial; approached by 3 moulded stone steps. 3-light casement ground and first floor windows to left and right with wood lintels. A 2-light casement above door with moulded stone sill and surround. Chamfered plinth, 2-light flat-faced stone mullion cellar window to right, chamfered quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers. C19 2-storey, one-window extension to left with brick end stack. Two-light stone mullion windows to rear with moulded sills and surrounds, some blocked. Attached 2-bay outbulding to rear left probably contemporary with house. A horizontal oval window with stone surround to rear gable and stone-coped gable with kneelers to other end; slate roof. Interior: back-to-back open fireplaces, one with stop-chamfered bressumer, the other blocked; ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams. Fitted cupboard with shaped shelves. Reset staircase with original turned balusters. Bolection-moulded stone fireplace surround in upper room with Dutch tiles round late C18 cast-iron grate.
