Description

Shown as Manor House and Upper and Lower Manor on Ordnance Survey map. Manor house, now 2 dwellings. Mid C17, partially remodelled late C18/mid C19, and late C19. Squared coursed limestone with C20 plain tile roof. H-plan. 2 storeys with attic. Main front of 4 bays with end 2 bays breaking forward as gabled cross wings. Centre 2-window range of 2-light stone mullion windows, ground floor renewed late C19. Large C19 six-light canted stone bay window to ground and first floor of left gable. C17 three-light stone mullion windows to attic of each gable. Oval plaque in return wall of left gable. Central C20 door has moulded stone surround with 4-centred head. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and ashlar stacks with cornices at ridge and ends. Garden front to right of main front is a 3-window range of late C18/early C19 tall sash windows with glazing bars with plain ashlar surrounds. Panelled door to right of centre has reeded wood surround with lions heads. Oval plaque above door. Elevation to left of main front is a 3-window range of irregularly spaced 3-light stone mullion windows. Central door has moulded stone surround. Some C20 extensions to rear elevation. Interior: Manor House has 4 and 6 panelled doors with reeded surrounds and lions heads. Window surrounds are similar with panelled reveals. Staircase around open well has stick balustrade and rib-vaulted ceiling. Attic room has one C17 panelled door. Original roof trusses. Upper manor not inspected but noted as having staircase with some C17 turned balusters.
