Description
House. Probably mid C17 and early C19. Squared coursed limestone with ironstone and C20 plain tile roof. 3-unit plan with cross wing. 2 storeys with attic. 4-window range with gabled cross wing breaking forward to left. 8-paned unhorned sash windows have gauged stone heads and ashlar surrounds. Central door is now a window. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and truncated ashlar stacks at ridge and end. Gable elevations to left and right have some casements under wood lintels. C20 porch to left gable. Rear elevation has lean-to to right and 3-light stone mullion window to ground floor left. 2 leaded casements to first floor are under wood lintels. Interior: room to right of main front has C17 moulded spine beams and rafters and large C16 fireplace, probably reset, with 4-centred arch head and roll moulding and medical symbols in the spandrels. Partially legible inscription on fireplace, "Now it is written for us to believe that ….. God save King Edward VI of that name". Stop-chamfered beams in kitchen.
