Listed Building: Tansor Court and attached quadrant walls and gates (1371936)

Rectory, now house. 1858/59 for Rev. H. Living by John Norton of London, extended as datestone 1869 and early C20. Squared coursed limestone with Colleyweston slate roof. Irregular double-depth plan. 2 storeys. Entrance front of 3 irregular bays. Large 5-light, Early-English-style, stone mullion staircase window, to left, has gablet over. Small 2-light stone mullion window to ground floor centre. Square, stone mullion bay window, to ground floor centre, has castellated parapet. Bay to right is blank and has large lateral stack. Doorway to left of centre has 2-centred arch head. Attached covered way of 3 bays has Gothic style outer gateway with 4-centred arch head, and decorated spandrels. Flanking gabled buttresses and gablet over with central coat of arms. Ashlar gable parapets and ashlar lateral and ridge stacks. Iron gates attached to outer gateway and double quadrant walls attached to either side of gateway forming outer forecourt. 2-window range attached to left of entrance front is similar, with stone mullion windows, and was originally the service wing. Single-storey billiards room, attached to front left, is dated 1869 on return gable. All in similar style. Datestone D.L. 1676 to rear left is reset. Elevation to right of entrance front is of 2 bays with gable breaking forward to left. 2-storey, 5-light stone mullion, bay window with transoms to left and similar single-storey canted bay window to right. Small Early English style window, with gablet over, to first floor centre. Garden front, to rear of entrance front, is of 4 bays with gables to left and right, that to left breaks forward. 2-storey canted bay window, similar to others, to left. 2- and 3-light stone mullion windows, with transoms, to centre and right. 2-light Early English style window, with gablet over, to first floor left of centre, and circular turret to first floor right of centre, with conical roof and stone mullion windows. Lean-to porch to left of centre. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and ashlar stacks at ridge and ends. 2 bays to right in similar style added early C20. Interior; staircase with C17 style balustrade rises around an open well. Drawing room, Study and principal bedrooms have the original Gothic Style fireplaces. Principal rooms also have panelled dados. An earlier Rectory formerly stood in the grounds to the east. Tansor Court ceased to be used as a Rectory in 1903.
