Description
Farmhouse. C.1840. Coursed squared ironstone to main block, red brick (English bond) to wings, hipped slate roofs, brick internal stacks. U-plan. 2-storey, 3-window range. Central double-leaf part-glazed door with panelled reveals and painted limestone surround with Doric half-columns supporting entablature with triglyphs and metopes. 16-pane sash windows to ground and first floor windows with flat-arched heads. Deep overhanging eaves. 2-storey wings to rear have 2- and 3-light casement windows with segmental-arched heads. Interior not inspected. One of a number of model farms built for the 4th Duke of Grafton 1839-44. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire, p.75; The Northamptonshire Landscape, J. Steane, 1974, p.240-1).
