Description
Terrace of 8 cottages. Dated 1840. Coursed squared limestone, hipped slate roof, brick ridge stacks. 2-storey, 16-window range. Double-depth plan. Panelled part-glazed doors except for central blank door, all with chamfered jambs and stone lintels and approached by 2 steps. 2-light Gothick casement windows to ground and 1st floor with chamfered jambs and lintels and central blank panel to 1st floor with Tudor-arched head and ornamental spandrels framing inscription ERECTED/1840. Plinth, storey band and overhanging eaves. Interiors not inspected. Model cottages erected by the Grafton estate. Also known as Factory Row, as said to have been built as lace factory.
