Description
Planting stone. C.1603. Limestone ashlar. Rectangular block on plinth with inscription, "This wood was planted by Robert Lord Spencer in the years of our Lord 1602 and 1603" has Spencer coat of arms above. Enclosed by railings with spikes. (C. Markham, Datestones in Althorp Park, p.7).
