Description

Lodge. Mid C18, altered mid C19. Coursed squared limestone and ashlar, plain tile roof with ornamental ridge tiles, brick end stacks. 2-unit plan. 1 storey, basement/cellar and attic. Central C20 door in moulded wood surround, with flat-arched head and straight hood on carved stone brackets, flanked by 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched heads. Plinth, wide pilaster strips to corners with blank panels also above door and windows. Two gabled dormers. Basement has exterior access to right. One of a pair of lodges to a drive which formerly led south to Stowe, seat of the Dukes of Buckingham. (Buildings of England: Northamptonshire, p.404).
