Description

House. Mid C18, with early C19 alterations and additions. Coursed squared limestone, slate roof, brick end stacks on stone bases. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. Two-unit, central-staircase plan. Central panelled door with overlight approached by 3 stone steps in porch with slender cast-iron Doric columns, plain rendered frieze, moulded rendered cornice and blocking cornice. 12-pane sash windows to ground and 1st floors with stone lintels and keyblocks. Chamfered plinth, chamfered stone eaves and two roof dormers with segmental lead roofs. 2-storey, 1-window wing to right with 2-light casement windows to ground and 1st floor, the former with stone lintel and keyblock. Depth of house has been doubled by early C19 twin-gabled 2-storey extension of brick. Central panelled part-glazed garden door with painted and coloured margin glazing in fine cast-iron porch with ogee roof. Interior has fine open-well staircase from ground floor to attic with column-on-vase balusters and square newel posts. Stone-flagged floor to hall. Fitted cupboard with round-arched head and shaped shelves. Stone cellar.
