Description
Mid C19. Hammer dressed stone. Hipped slate roof. Two storeys, lower at east than at west end. Four bays of horizontally sliding sashes with glazing bars, and ten bays of casements. Boarded doors. East end has attic dormers recessed into the slope of the roof. Elevation to street has two bays: sashes with marginal glazing bars on first floor. Shallow canted bay with glazing bars on ground floor, and door with four moulded panels. Each cottage has a brick floored living room with a variety of C19 chimney pieces (some marble) and cast iron ranges, a pantry lit by an unglazed but shuttered one-light window, and a newel stair leading to two first floor rooms. Perfect example of planned mid C19 workers' houses.
