Listed Building: Rectory Farmhouse and Barn (1040442)

House and barn. C17, remodelled C19 with C15/C16 wing. Cruck framed in part, coursed ironstone rubble, artificial stone slate roof, brick stacks. T-plan. 2 storeys and attic, 3 bays. C20 metal casement. Two 2-light windows to right with wood corbels and C20 wood casements. Gabled right bay projects slightly and has three 2-light windows with wood lintels and C20 casements on ground floor. 4-light stone mullioned window with straight moulded hood in right bay on first floor. 3-light casement windows with wood lintels in left and centre bays. 2-light stone mullioned attic window in right bay. Two gabled dormers to left. C17 one storey extension to right, probably former outbuildings, now part of house, has one-light window with plain stone frame. Wing projecting to left. Coursed ironstone rubble, tiled roof. It has carriage entrance with wood lintel to right of centre and gabled dormer with clock above. 3 bays to right form part of house with C20 doorway in right bay with wood lintel and 6-panel door. To left of it doorway with wood lintel and half-glazed door and 2-light window with wood lintel and old iron casement. C20 two-light casement window on first floor. At rear of this section facing street is blocked C15/C16 square-headed window with two arched cusped lights and cut spandrels. Blocked 2-light stone mullioned window on first floor. Barn to left of carriage entrance, C17: squared coursed ironstone, tiled roof, and coped gable-end with kneelers. Interior: House remodelled C19 and has staircase and fireplaces of this date. Roof of left wing altered in C20 but remains of two blades of raised cruck are built into C20 brickwork in the attic. Barn interior not inspected. P. Woodfield suggests that the C15/C16 window in the left wing is in its original position with an area of late medieval walling around it "which probably formed part of the original house which was relegated to farm outbuildings" when the present house was built to the south in the C17.
