Description
House, divided into two dwellings. Mid C17 with wing of c.1700. L-plan, originally 3-unit plan. Coursed squared ironstone banded with limestone, asbestos tile roof, brick ridge and internal stacks, brick end stack to wing, stone end stack to right with moulded base and cap to flue. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range to front. Part-glazed plank door to right of centre with timber lintel and straight hood on brackets. 3-light chamfered stone mullion windows to ground floor with chamfered stone surrounds, that to ground floor with blocked central light and hood mould. 3-light casement windows with stop-chamfered wood lintels to ground and first floor left. Small rectangular window with timber lintel to right of door; small 2-light casement above door with double-chamfered stone lintel. County Fire insurance plaque between first floor left and centre windows. Wing to rear left has 2-light flat-faced stone mullion windows with moulded sills and surrounds and 2- and 3-light casement windows with timber lintels. Quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Interior: No. 43 has ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams, one room with stop-chamfered joists. Staircase from ground floor to attic with splat balusters and pointed finials. Bolection-moulded corner fireplace. Stone flags, stone cellar and collar truss roof. No. 45 has open fireplace with cambered bressumer. Probably sub-divided as early as late C18.
