Description
House, now 2 dwellings. Datestone S/RS/1728. Squared coursed limestone and brick, now painted, with C20 plain tile roof. L-shape plan. 2 storeys; part with attic. Main front of 2 wings at right angles with a 2-window range to right of C20 casements under wood lintels and one-window range to left with casement with glazing bars under wood lintel. C20 door and lean-to porch, to No. 5, at intersection of wings. C19 door to centre of left hand wing. Front of right wing rebuilt in brick late C18/early C19. Gabled roof dormer with leaded casement. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at ridge and end. Gable to end of left wing has 2 casement windows with glazing bars under wood lintels and datestone in apex. Interior of No. 5 has open fireplace with bressumer in room to right and similar fireplace in first floor room above. Winder stair to right of fireplace rises to attic. Chamfered ceiling beams and butt purlin roof structure. Interior of No. 7 has spine beams. House built for Stanton family and originally No. 7 was attached barn and dairy.
