Description
House, formerly farmhouse. Dated 1684 with C19 and C20 alterations. Coursed limestone rubble with ironstone dressings, C20 plain-tile roof, stone end stacks. T plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Part-glazed panelled door to right of centre with wood lintel and straight hood on brackets. 3-light casement windows to ground and 1st floors with cemented lintels. 2-light windows to left of centre lighting staircase, that to semi-basement level blocked with surround of former stone mullion windows in ironstone, a C20 casement window to middle landing, and ovolo-moulded stone mullion window just below eaves. Pair of cellar windows to left of centre originally with chamfered stone mullion, that to far left blocked, the other has lost mullion. Chamfered ironstone-coped plinth, ironstone quoins and gabled dormers to left and right of centre with ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows with hood moulds. Above the right dormer datestone inscribed S/FL.1684 with a rose. Wing to rear has much-alteredd fenestration and has been extended. Interior: chamfered spine beams, some with ogee stops, open fireplace with stop-chamfered spine beam, stone cellar and open-well staircase from ground floor to attic with barley-sugar balusters on bulbous feet and panelled newels; small semi-basement room or half-cellar in well. Collar truss roof.
