Description
Manor house. C17 and C18 with late C19/early C20 alterations. Squared coursed limestone with Colleyweston slate roof. Originally probably 2-unit plan. 2 storeys. 3-window range with one 4-light stone mullion window, with king mullions, to far left. Other windows are casements, under wood lintels, some with leaded light. Ashlar gable parapets and central lateral brick stack. 2 bays to left, are probably the original house, with one-window range of casements under wood lintels. Central, leaded, fire window. Plank door, under stone lintel, to far right. Ashlar gable parapets and brick stack at ridge. Right gable has 4-light stone mullion window to first floor. Late C19/early C20 doorway below. Left gable end has 3-light stone mullion window to ground floor. Rear elevation is similar with one 3- and one 4-light stone mullion window, also some leaded casements. Bay to right breaks forward slightly. Interior: kitchen, to left of entrance, has large open fireplace with bressumer. A first floor fireplace is noted has having a moulded stone shelf. Some original roof structure also said to survive. Part used as a garden room for Polebrook Hall (q.v.) late C19/early C20.
