Description

House. Early C18, said to incorporate earlier work. Squared coursed limestone and ironstone, stone slate roof. Stone flanking stacks. U-plan. 2 storeys, attic and cellar. 3 bays. 4 two-light blocked stone mullioned windows to cellar. Central doorway approached by 6 stone steps has stone lintel and 4-panel part-glazed door. 3-light windows with wood mullions and transoms and stone lintels on ground floor, similar 2-light windows on first floor. Hipped attic dormers with 2-light iron casements. All windows have leaded panes. Coped gable ends with kneelers. 2 two-storey wings at rear, one extended C20. Interior not inspected but said to have early C18 staircase with square newels and recessed panels, turned balusters and moulded handrail. Also large stone-sided inglenook fireplace.
