Description
House. Late C17, altered C20. Coursed squared ironstone, thatch roof, brick ridge and end stacks. 3-unit lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. C20 part-glazed door to left of centre with side-light and wood lintel, double-leaf garden door to left and C20 part-glazed door in C20 gabled porch to right of centre. Irregular glazing of 1- and 2-light casement windows, 2 original 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows to first floor right of centre; stone surrounds of others survive. Right gable end has 3-light part-blocked ovolo-moulded stone mullion window to ground floor with hood mould, similar window to first floor, similar 2-light window to attic floor and hollow-chamfered string courses at attic floor level and above attic window. Chamfered plinth to gable end, quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers. Late C19 or early C20 lean-to extension to rear. Interior: ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams and open fireplace with ogee-stop-chamfered bressumer. Stone corner fireplace with moulded Tudor-arched head. Stone cellar. Formerly a public house, the Swan.
