Description
2 cottages. Late C17/early C18. Coursed squared ironstone, thatch roofs, brick end stack, stone ridge stack to No. 59 with brick patching. No. 59 has 2-unit through-passage plan. 2 storeys; 5-window range. 3-light casement windows, with timber lintels, that on left stop-chamfered. Two 3-light casement windows with timber lintels to first floor in eyebrow dormers. Gable end to right has 3-light chamfered mullion window to ground floor, left light blocked, and 2-light windows with timber lintels to first floor. Outshut and lean-to extension to rear. No. 57 has 6-panel door with pointed-arch top panels and timber lintel extending across 3-light casement to right. Two 3-light casement windows with timber lintels to left. Blocked doorway between far left window and that to left of door. First floor has 3-light casement window flanked by similar 2-light windows all with timber lintels. Main entrance to No. 57 to left end. C20 extension to rear. Interior: both cottages have stop-chamfered spine beams. No. 59 has stop-chamfered open fireplace complete with C19 cast-iron range and bread oven. No. 57 was formerly 3 cottages.
