Description

House. Mid and late C17. Squared coursed limestone with thatch roof. L-shape plan. Main front of 3-window range of 3-light stone mullion windows with drip moulds. C20 door to right of centre has moulded stone surround with plain entablature and simple cornice above. Large limestone quoins. Ashlar gable parapets and kneelers and ashlar stacks with moulded cornices at ridge and ends. Rear wing of different build is similar. Abutment of the 2 wings is stepped with single-light window with stone s rrounds to each face of external corner. Large lateral stone stack with ashlar flues. Thatched cottage attached to rear of house is of similar style and now forms part of the house. Rear elevation of main house is similar to front with stone mullion windows. Windows to first floor of rear wing has original leaded diamond panes. Interior: room to left of entrance has C17 open fireplace with square-head moulded stone surround. Fireplace in rear wing similar with 4-centre head. Kitchen to left of entrance has remains of open fireplace with bressumer. 2 first floor rooms have C17 fireplaces with 4-centre heads.
