Description

House. Probably late C17, altered C19. Originally timber framed, now brick and stone, part rendered, with thatch roof. Originally 3-unit plan, now 2 units. Single storey with attic. 2-window range of early C20 canted bay windows. 2 eyebrow dormers to attic, with casement windows. Central C19 plank door under flat brick arch. Evidence of timber frame at eaves level. Brick and stone stacks at ends. Right gable is rendered. Left gable rebuilt in brickwork, C20, when end unit removed. Front and rear elevations are brick, right gable is stone. Interior not inspected but noted as having spine beams, some plank doors and probably has open fireplace, now blocked. The forge was orignally attached to the right of the main front. Included for group value. (RCH: An Inventory of Architectural Monuments in North Northamptonshire: p.118).
