Description

House. Dated 1684. Coursed squared ironstone, thatch roof, brick end and ridge stacks on stone bases. Originally L-plan, now T-plan. 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. 6-panel part-glazed door with overlight in C19 stone porch to right of centre. To right two 2-light ovolo stone mullion and transom windows (renewed) to ground floor with hood moulds, similar window to first floor right, over door and in gable over entrance bay. To left of door similar 3-light windows to ground floor except for one-light window to far left with transom only, and 2-light stone mullion windows to first floor. Chamfered plinth, quoins, moulded string to older part to right and stone-coped gable to right with kneelers. Projecting wing to rear of entrance bay has similar stone mullion windows and stack with datestone incorporated in one flue inscribed M/WS/1684. Interior has ogee-stop-chamfered spine beams, dog-leg staircase with barley sugar balusters and moulded stone corner fireplace.
