Description
Cottage. Mid/late C18. Red brick Flemish bond, old tile roof, brick end stacks. 2-unit plan. 2 storeys and attic; 3-window range. Central plank door in moulded timber surround with straight hood on brackets. 2-light casement windows to ground and first floors, those to ground floor with timber lintels, those to first floor with brick flat-arched brick lintels. Stone sundial between first floor centre and left windows and moulded brick cornice. A one-storey-and-attic stone extension to left with . slate roof. Interior has open fireplace with chamfered bressumer, a fitted cupboard in upper room with fielded panelled doors and H hinges. Inscription painted on plaster in attic: 'I laid me down and slept, and rose up again/for the Lord sustained me psalm ye 3'. Formerly the Poor House.
