Description

House. Dated 1687 altered C19 and C20. Coursed squared ironstone, C20 plain-tile roof, stone end stacks. L-plan. 2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. Blocked door to right of centre with moulded stone surround partly cut by 4-light leaded casement window to right with central hollow-chamfered stone mullion, hollow-chamfered stone surround and hood mould. Small barred one-light window to left of door at basement level with chamfered stone sill and lintel. A 3-light hollow-chamfered stone mullion window at mezzanine level with hood mould. 2-light casement window to 1st floor right with hollow-chamfered stone surround. Datestone above door inscribed M/RM/1687. Cross-wing projects to left: of coursed limestone with blocked window to 1st floor and 2-light casement attic window to gable. Front wing has chamfered stone plinth and both have stone-coped gables with kneelers. Attached outbuilding range to right has pantile roof. Large carriage arch beside main block with wood lintel, double-leaf plank doors and large round-head plank pedestrian gate to left.
