Description

{1} An archaeological watching brief was undertaken along the whole length of Meeting Lane, Towcester. Romano-British remains were encountered in the southern 30m of Meeting Lane as the remainder of the site was not excavated deep enough to encounter these remains. Where excavations reached Roman levels, the features were fairly dense and numerous but the remains were not deeply stratified. Overall, none of the features encountered were more than 0.6m deep and though there were several phases of Roman activity on the site these were fairly spread out.
