Description

{1} During 1963, four trenches established the nature of the main enclosure and in 1967 further trenches were made between the medieval furrows where there would be least plough-damage. [Information added as part of the NRHE data transfer: In its original form this record indexed finds & archive from the Strixton site as being held by Northampton Museum. Nothing of this nature though, is mentioned in the EI Northamptonshire Museums file assembled during the compilation of the record for the county in 1986-7. Another document, however, in the EI file of questionnaires sent out to excavators (apparently as part of the same compilation process and thus also presumably dating to 1986-7), mentions the 1965 investigation and lists the archive as being with Mr Hall. Mr Hall, meanwhile, suggests that the finds and a copy of the archive may have been sent to Wollaston Museum in 1988. The original site files are still in his keeping. (Mr D. N. Hall. E-mail 13. 9. 04.).]
