Description

{1} Three sites were surveyed by magnetometer on land at Whitehall Farm. The work was carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology in March 2002 on behalf of S.Younbg and N.Adams as part of the Whitehall Farm Roman Villa Project. The survey was funded by a grant from the Nene Valley Steering Committee via South northants District Council to undertake the work. Site 1 lies to the south of Whitehall Farm. This formed an extension to previous geophysical survey carried out in 1999. {2} In 1999, 2000, 2002 and again in 2007 a series of Geophysical magnetometer surveys were undertaken by Northamptonshire Archaeology and Cranfield University to try and establish the extent of the settlement which is now known to cover in excess of 5 hectares of land.
