Description

{1} Five evaluation trenches were excavated within the yards of the Showlsey Farmyard. No pre-modern deposits or artefects were discovered during the course of the trial trench evaluation. Every trench showed clear evidence of substantial clearance of the site prior to the laying of the existing, modern, yard surface. Evidence of numerous service trenches criss-crossing the farmyards was discovered. Given the level of modern disturbance and the lack of any pre-modern (20th century) deposits it seems almost certain that no extensive archaeological remains could survive within the application site.
