Description

{1} An evaluation was carried out within the area of a Roman villa and associated settlement, which had been approved for Scheduling by the Department of Heritage, in order to inform decisions regarding its long term management. Hand excavated trenches were opened in the area of the villa building, within which the mosaic lies. 17 trial trenches were excavated by machine. They ranged in length from approximately 50m to 400m, with a width of 1.8m. The trenches were positioned to maximise the retrieval of information, and ensure that the archaeological resource was understood.
