Description
{1} A previously identified prehistoric enclosure ditch was further investigated and recorded. Lithic material dating from the Late Mesolithic to the Early Bronze Age and ceramic material dating from the Roman period was recovered from the ditch fills. A broken, bronze side-looped spearhead of the Middle Bronze Age was also recovered from the terminus of the enclosure ditch. No features were positively identified within the area enclosed by the ditch. Outside of the enclosure ditch a regular pattern of narrow drainage trenches was identified. A single Neolithic flint scraper and three sherds of abraded Roman ceramic material were recovered from two of these trenches. This material appears to be residual and the drainage trenches are probably early modern in date. A cluster of possible pits and postholes was identified amongst the trenches but these remain undated and do not appear to form a coherent pattern.
