Description

During January 2011, A1 Archaeology conducted an archaeological investigation by strip, map and record in advance of a residential development on Plot 1, Vale Farm. The only significant observation made was that the north-western end of the site had been raised. This was accomplished by dumping a layer of natural over the existing ground surface, and finishing off with a fresh topsoil layer. This probably occurred during the construction of a stable block in the 20th century. No features or artefacts earlier that the 19th/20th century were observed.
