Description

Geophysical surveys were carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology on behalf of CFA Archaeology, as part of the archaeological evaluation of a proposed wind farm site, at Watford Lodge Farm, Watford, Northamptonshire. One hectare was surveyed around each of five turbine bases. A linear group of probable ditched enclosures were detected in T1, whereas a single, larger enclosure was identified in T2. Both T2 and T3 were found to contain areas of possible ferrous or ceramic dumping. More probable ditches, possibly part of an ancient field system, were resolved in T3. In T4 a pair of probable linear ditches, several pits and two possible roundhouses was identified. Further possible linear ditches were detected in T5. Information from OASIS Online Form.
