Description

{1} There are three linear dipolar anomalies running through the study area which are almost certainly modern service pipes. The survey detected a number of dipolar responses spread randomly across the site indicating near-surface ferrous metal or other highly fired material, including some very large responses possibly related to World War II ordnance. There are a variety of positive linear anomalies running across the site that may be representative of former field boundaries or enclosures and a trackway of unknown date. There are also several positive anomalies that may represent large pits. These are generally located on higher ground in the north-eastern portion of the survey area, roughly corresponding with the mapped extent of an outcrop of Glacial Till. The probable ridge and furrow earthworks are on lower ground to the south-west of this, and is likely to reflect an agricultural zone to the south of the village of Long Buckby.
