Description

n June 2012, Oxford Archaeology undertook a programme of archaeological Strip, Map and Sample (SMS) recording and evaluation on land at the Night Owl Truck Stop, on the A5 Watling Street near Lilbourne, Northamptonshire. No features of archaeological significance were encountered within either area. A single field boundary was recorded within the SMS area that is present on the 1st edition OS map of 1884 and remained in use until it was backfilled in the 1970s. The evaluation comprised six trenches which identified the remnants of furrows and field drains
