Description

{1} Twenty trial trenches were excavated as part of archaeological evaluation on land north of Byfield Road in Woodford Halse. Only one gully was found which may pre-date the ridge and furrow; it probably represents a trackway. All of the trenches contained ridge and furrow cultivation strips, which were shown to change in alignment according to the shape and topography of the fields.
