Description

Between April 2015 and March 2016 an Observation and Recording project was carried out during the construction of a residential dwelling on the site. Throughout the project a series of walls, surfaces and drainage were found, whilst the general stratigraphy of the site revealed a made-ground deposit thought to have been a result of demolition. The walls are likely to be associated with a post-medieval public house, the Black Horse Inn, which once stood on the site and was depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of 1884 and subsequent maps until 1970s when buildings are no longer shown.
