Description

{1} The excavation of six geotechnical test pits was observed. Each pit was 3m long and 0.6m wide. Undisturbed natural substratum was observed in all trenches and no archaeological features or deposits were present. Much of the topsoil and subsoil or overburden layers appeared to have been disturbed or imported. This action may have occurred because of the construction and use of the now derelict building. Similarly, the small structure seen on the 1938 OS map may have caused some disturbance.
