Description
{1} Monitoring of ground reduction, trial trenching and the excavation of building foundation trenches revealed extensive disturbance of below-ground deposits in the relatively recent past in the area to the north of the former public house. No features or deposits of archaeological interest were observed during groundworks, and little artefactual material predating the modern period was recovered, though a small assemblage of unstratified medieval and earlier post-medieval pottery recovered during the investigations, indicates that there was earlier activity nearby.
