Description

{1} The evaluation comprised five trenches which were targeted on geophysical anomalies. Features of Roman date included ditches, pits, a possible post built structure and an inhumation burial. A stone spread could represent a medieval house platform, or the floor make up and wall footing of a building of Roman date. Evidence for quarrying, perhaps associated with brick or tile making may date to the earlier medieval period, with agricultural activity in the form of boundary ditches and extant ridge and furrow likely to have continued throughout the medieval period. Site Code: TOWB 13
