Description

{1} Metal detecting survey undertaken during the creation of a new car park to the north-west of the abbey. The area was initially detected prior to any groundworks, although only modern rubbish was found. Thereafter, 50-100mm of turf and topsoil was stripped under archaeological supervision and the area was metal detected again. A total of 40 finds were retrieved; none of which certainly pre-dated the start of the 19th century and comprised largely coins and lead pistol/musket balls.
