Description
{1} Archaeological monitoring of two controlled strip areas was undertaken on land off Poachers Close. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were encountered. Parts of the South Trench contained an overburden layer above the topsoil, presumed to be the remnants of previous modern agricultural activity within the Application Site, particularly associated with a plant nursery which had previously stood in this location. No signs of the ridge and furrow or other features identified during previous site works on land to the south were identified within the Application Site, and no remains of a previous field boundary running in a northwest to southeast direction through the site were discernible.
