Description

{1} Three archaeologically-monitored test pits showed that part of the Scheduled Monument of Benefield Castle, Lower Benefield, had previously been stripped in places to natural geology. No buried archaeological features were located. A modern rubble and topsoil bund was re-spread by machine to restore a level, pre-2005 ground surface in the same area. There were no pre-modern finds.
