Description

The survey has identified a large number of features of archaeological interest. There is ridge and furrow cultivation within the eastern and western parts of the site, and potential settlement activity within the centre of the site north of Stanwick Hall. It has likely revealed the location of a large former building, sitting on a potential building platform, which could represent an earlier version of Stanwick Hall. Features possibly relating to small enclosures or paddocks, likely relating to the house, have been identified to the east of the former building. A linear boundary feature running north to south was revelaed, and extending from the centre of this feature westward was another potential boundary feature which possibly resepcted the location of the former building.
