Description

The archaeological works identified evidence of post-medieval and modern landscaping in the form of a possible made ground layer, a boundary ditch and a planting pit associated with the Rectory’s gardens and/or the back-yard plots of the houses fronting onto Croughton Road. A fragment of residual Roman or medieval lava stone (quern or millstone) was recovered from the made ground layer. No features or deposits clearly pre-dating the post-medieval period were identified.
