Description
{1} In 1971 Gwen Brown carried out a watching brief on the excavation of stanchion holes through the south-east corner of the hillfort. One stanchion hole cut a section through the southern ditch of the hillfort. A second stanchion hole inside the fort, immediately north of the southern defences, uncovered a small pit. A third stanchion hole, 60m east of the western ramparts, revealed a possible storage pit with a later furnace cut into it. Iron Age pottery was found in a later layer. [NRHE data: This was a very small excavation in which nothing was apparently found. RCHME microfilm PRN No: 1940]
