Description

Phase 1 fieldwork comprised the excavation of four trenches in October 2023 which revealed three enclosure ditches, which are likely to represent part of the nearby late Iron Age/Roman settlement to the north. Phase 2 fieldwork was undertaken in October 2024, consisting of four 1.8m wide trial trenches and identifying three ditches and two small pits. One of the pits contained evidence of in situ burning and small-scale food processing and dated to the late Roman period.
