Description
A total of 9 trenches were excavated across the 1.3ha site. Despite the archaeological potential of the area, no features or deposits of archaeological significance were encountered during the course of the fieldwork. It was noted that the plot had been levelled through the introduction of large quantities of soil and rubble imported from elsewhere, likely to mitigate the steep natural slope still visible in the adjacent field to the east and south. Below the modern made ground deposits extensive modern truncation was also observed across the Site, with concrete foundations and areas of possible contaminated soil noted at depths beyond 1.2m below present ground level, cut into the natural substrate. It is likely that if any archaeological remains were previously present within the Site all evidence would have been removed through previous groundworks and development. Site Code: FIN21
