Description

{1} MOLA was comissioned to undertake an archaeological geophysical survey to the east of Wellingborough, on Plot 17 of the Stanton Cross development site, Northamptonshire. The survey followed on from similar works conducted by MOLA on other parts of the development site between 2016 and 2019. It detected dispersed archaeological remains of probable Iron Age and Roman date, including a small ditched enclosure in the north of the field, a short length of probable Roman road in the west, and a pattern of other ditches which may be elements of a former field system. Some traces of medieval ridge and furrow cultivation were also detected.
