Description

Archaeological observation was undertaken during groundworks associated with demolition of the existing garage and erection of a single storey extension at Harpole Hall. The archaeological works revealed extensive deposits of made ground, primarily relating to the 1970’s demolition of outbuildings associated with Harpole Hall and the construction of a garage. No evidence of a former single storey structure, possibly a billiard room, demolished prior to the construction of the garage, or any earlier structures, were identified aside from the brick ceiling of an existing basement. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were identified. The only artefactual material noted pertained to the modern period.
